  The Pines is cheap and convenient for the centre of Chippenham. The staff were friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel itself has seen better days and looks a bit scruffy. There is limited parking on the forecourt, and the passage to parking spaces at the back is extremely narrow; you can get a small car down if you pull in the wing mirrors. Breakfast was not served until 8 am, which might not be convenient for those who need to get about their working day. The cooked breakfast was standard stuff, remarkable only for the weirdest fried egg I've ever seen! It appeared to have been broken into a circular mold in the frying pan, so what emerged was a disk of mingled white and yolk. I'd would also have liked the jug of hot water to have been warm enough to make a decent cup of tea in the small cup provided.
